About

Here at Table Talk, there’s only one motto.

“IF YOU EAT, YOU’RE IN”

If you eat food, then you’ll love Table Talk! For this blog, there is no topic that is ‘off the table.’ Anything pertaining to food and nutrition is what you’ll find here.

My name is Taryn and I’m so excited you are here visiting my blog, Table Talk! I decided to put this photo up of myself at graduation because it explains so much. I. Love. Learning. About sophomore year of high school, I realized that knowledge is power; not only that but knowledge is the kind of power that no one can take away from you. Since then, I’ve found that nutrition is my passion and I have surrounded myself with the wonderful world of FOOD!

IMG_0646.jpegI graduated from the University of Northwestern with a B.S. Health Science and B.A. Biblical Studies in two years. I’m now pursuing a B.S. degree in Dietetics to obtain the Registered Dietitian credentials. Yes, I’m a nerd. And nerds are my favorite type of people. As if classes didn’t keep me busy, I enriched my college experience through collegiate basketball. I now call some of my former teammates my best friends. Basketball was a great escape from a busy life and I was overjoyed every time I got to plan team meals!

If you know me, you know I adore adventures. I crave them. I post and share all about my adventures on Instagram @TableTalk.blog in hopes that it inspires you to make an adventure of your own! I truly feel adventures fill my soul and give me life! Finding something positive that brings you great joy is essential for good health.

IMG_4797.jpegNow residing in St. Paul, I have realized just how great my upbringing was. I grew up on a farm and, no, I did not love every minute of it. Farming is hard work. I helped on our family corn and soybean farm as a fourth generation farmer. Every year we take care of the 5,000 acres that we use to plant, harvest, and give back to the earth. My family also tends to 3,000 piggies daily. Why do we farm? In short, to feed people all over the world and make a living (although farming is real tough right now). I wouldn’t change how I grew up for anything! Growing up I especially loved our chickens and cats. Believe it or not, our farm is like Pangea because all our animals get along in harmony. You wouldn’t believe it until you saw it yourself; a chicken, cat, and dog all napping on the same deck. Melts your heart. I hope to bring my farming background and passion for nutrition together for you to learn any and every truth you wish to know about where our food comes from.

Adventures for me don’t always include beautiful hikes and kodak moments. My eyes and heart have been blissfully opened to see the lost peoples of the world. Missions have been on my heart since before I could put a name to it. God has given me purpose and I know that purpose is to help people. The thing is, missions don’t have to be overseas. I use this blog as a part of my own mission! I desperately wish to help any and all people to better understand the relationship between what they eat and their health. I want to help. I will help.  IMG_4203.jpg

Oh! And I can’t forget. My S/O and I recently got MARRIED! We tied the knot out amongst the ancient Redwood trees of California. Exchanging vows while Redwoods cast high above us was grander than I ever could have imagined. Call me a tree-hugger, but we LOVED it.
