Hello!! My name is Taryn Tumbleson and I have a passion for Nutrition and helping people! I am a 20-year-old college student at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul and I just finished my Health Science and Bible majors! Human nutrition has always interested me; even though I grew up on bologna, cheese slices, and lunchables (don’t tell Mom). I ate a lot of convenience foods because it was cheap and quick; we just didn’t take the time (until I was about 14 years-old) as a family to really learn the long term effects of the foods we put into our bodies. I now have a growing passion for taking on the changing world of public health and nutrition education!
Along with everything in our lives I believe that Jesus Christ, our Creator, is to be the center of your focus. I accepted Christ into my heart July 27, 2013. I believe that God has given us plants that bear fruit for us to eat and that, in my opinion, food is the best medicine.
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
It’s good to have drive, but too much intension and care about the food you put into your body can be more harmful than helpful. There’s a healthy balance to be found between being knowledgable and obsessed. It’s a changing science; you cannot master it all, but it helps to be educated and aware of what you’re eating and where it came from. There is, in fact, very little we don’t know about food and nutrition when comparing to what research has consistently proven.
The purpose of constructing and maintaining this blog is to educate readers on Public Health topics related to nutrition, nutrition in relation to the food you consume, and thus allowing readers like yourself to make educated choices to improve overall health through nutrition (and exercise) and better this world!
‘That’s how I want to make a difference in this world.’
I hope you enjoy what I share with you and get the most from it! Feel free to contact me with questions, comments, concerns, and ideas that you wish for me to research and post on!
**Just a reminder that I am not a professional in this field. I am a passionate learner and will be researching and ‘pulling the facts’ to present them to you along with my insight and opinion on the topic(s) at hand.
